Hey there!
My name is Britt, and thanks for stopping by! I'm a NYC-based artist, runner, and foodie who loves to make natural, gluten-free, and affordable recipes using minimal ingredients.
Reason for The Banana Diaries:
Well, to start, I really love bananas. Apparently it was my favorite food as a baby, and it's still one of my favorite foods now! You can eat it as anything too- put it in a smoothie, make a bread/muffins, whip up paleo pancakes (just an egg and a banana... check out the recipe here!), or slather on some almond butter and make banana boats! Bananas are definitely a star on this blog.
The reason why I started the blog was to share my love and passion for healthy eating and living. I believe that food should both taste and make you feel good. I'm not the first person to say that it's important to eat well, but many forget or believe that we can't enjoy it if it's good for us. Food should be celebrated! It's a fundamental part of what creates a culture and brings people together. Here, you'll find some of my favorites recipes that I created or have been inspired by using few and basic ingredients (think: foods that you can pronounce and aren't processed), as well as my exponentially growing list of places and restaurants that I adore. Run alongside me as I eat and wander my way through NYC!
Fun facts about Britt that you don't really need to know:
If you read all of that, well done. I think we'll get along just fine. Now, check out some cool recipes, and let's get cooking!

Fun facts about Britt that you don't really need to know:
- I am fluent in Italian (it's also in my blood...sono bionda e siciliana. Anch'io non ci credo!). On the list of languages to learn: French, German, and Romanian (random, I know, but it is one of the most fascinating and complex languages)
- My favorite yums include any and all fruits and veggies (seriously. any.), homemade almond butter (you can check out my 1-ingredient recipe here!), Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, avocado, and pickled anything. Oh, and tuna (my mom calls me Big Tuna, and yes, that is a reference to The Office).
- I run anywhere from 4-10 miles almost everyday, but take a mandatory rest day once a week (because despite my youth-induced belief that I am invincible, injuries are very real and are very mean).
- I like my coffee black and my tea green.
- I live for 90's rock (The Offspring, Blink-182, Nirvana, RHCP kinda vibes), but also love Eminem and Jack Johnson.
- Cats are the best. Dogs are cool too, but, like, cats.
- Language is so cool (I studied it in school, so I have to think that, right?). But seriously, if you want someone to geek out with you about whether or not a comment was face threatening and the meaning of latching and intonation cues, I'm your person.
- I am a compulsive drawer, and I love to paint. Right now, I just work from a table easel (NYC living=not a whole lot of space), but one day, I plan on having a huge, open studio with skylights and tarps on the ground and previous paintings hung up and still life set ups on display. One day. Check out my work here!
